LIFE IS MESSY. PORTRAITS CAN BE TOO.
When was the last time you had family portraits made? Think back to those images and try to pick just ONE that is your absolute favorite. We know that’s hard, but just try to visualize which image is the most meaningful to you. Got the one?
It’s more than likely that the image you picked shows emotion in your families faces. It’s possible that the image you picked isn’t a “traditional” portrait but more of a “candid” one.
Here’s a little secret… Those type of images are our favorites, too!
Don’t get us wrong, though… we love traditional portraits and we always make sure to capture them during every session, but there is a current trend for more candid or what we call “lifestyle” photos. And how great is that?!
Our own family creates family portraits every other year. This last summer, we did something a little different than in past years. Once we sorted through the images, edited a selection, and began designing a wall collage, we found that the “silly” image was the one we loved the most. The reason we love it so much is that it shows the personality and emotion of each person in our family. We loved it so much that we made it a large fine art metal print for our living room wall. With the small children in our family (and honestly, even us adults), we find that the photos showing us having fun are the ones that best represent who are are as individuals and who we are as a family.
See below…
We encourage you to embrace the silly and fun portraits! We hear from so many parents, who want to have portraits created, that they have had past experiences that were far from fun and that their kids would not stand still and look at the camera for the traditional portrait. For children, standing still and smiling on command may be the most “boring” thing in the world. It is our opinion that making portraits should be fun and memorable. We challenge you to imagine with us that your next family portrait experience can be extra special and fun and that the result will be a fantastic memory to hang on your wall!
We believe that our job is to capture your family in a true, authentic way, “playing” and having fun so that your next family portrait is about a special experience and memory created for all time!
